Can I set up email notifications for PTO approval?

Yes. You can do that from the top user menu in the User Settings > Notifications panel by selecting the options 'Also send notification via email' and 'My personal time off requests are approved or rejected' under Personal Notifications. Check CORE Help Center for details.
