What's the difference between Contract Analysis and Budget Analysis?

Contract Analysis is a report that displays the original contract amount, amount spent, and amount billed on a project. Budget Analysis is a report that displays the budget amount of the project; it shows whether the project is over budget or approaching the budget.

Contract Amount Calculation for Standard Root Projects

When the Contract Analysis and Project Profitability reports are grouped by Root Project, CORE calculates totals using the combined values of the Standard Root Project and its standard phases.

Reporting Behavior

  • The Standard Root Parent project always appears in the report and displays only its own contract amount.
  • Contract amounts from all standard phases are included in the Totals.
  • Non-Root Main Parent projects are displayed only when transactions or billed amounts exist directly on the main parent.
  • Contract amounts for Non-Root Main Parent projects are excluded from Totals to prevent double-counting.
  • Transactions charged directly to Main parent phases continue to roll up into Used, Billed, and related amount columns.

Totals Calculation

When grouped by Root Project:

ColumnCalculation
Contract AmountSum of the Standard Root Project and all standard phases
Used / BilledSum of all standard phases, including the Standard Root Project, plus transactions charged directly to Main phases
Unused / Contract Billed RemainingCalculated using the total contract amount minus the corresponding Used or Billed totals

Note: This calculation behavior applies specifically to Standard Root Projects using phased project structures.
