Overview
Dashboard is your home page that displays when you log in to BQE CORE, providing you with an overview of key performance indicators, business metric and actionable items in configurable widgets. The actionable items could be to-do tasks or approvals that are being reviewed by someone else or need to be reviewed by you. Dashboard is the starting point that provides you with everything you need to know about your projects, business, employees, and clients. It prioritizes all items and displays elements based on your role in the company. Click to watch this video on creating dashboards in CORE.
Dashboard is an ideal tool for administrators, principals and executive managers. For example, principals and partners look at the company as a whole and need only minor-level details. They need critical analysis so as to spot the issues and ensure they get the managers to perform the necessary actions to get them back on track. Principals also want to know who their best performers are. They want to see quickly where all their revenue and profit is coming from so that they can focus on those.
The Dashboard contains a series of widgets that extract information from your company database and present it in the best format on different panels. You can have or add a maximum of 9 widgets on a dashboard, but you can add unlimited number of dashboards. However, you cannot make changes to another user's dashboard, unless you have the permissions and the dashboards are shared. Although most of the widgets display information for the last 12 months by default, you can choose any specific or custom data range. You can even display the same widget twice for two different date ranges for comparison and rename them to reflect different views. Some of the widgets display financial data and involve progressive scrolling to show more information.
Note: The totals are displayed on the widgets independent of the list scroll.
CORE comes with a predefined set of role-based dashboards that are displayed based on the user role, subscription, and security permissions of the logged-in users. These dashboards provide insights into the key areas of CORE, allowing you to efficiently monitor your tasks and projects, boosting productivity and profitability. These standard dashboards have been added to your existing dashboard list:
- CORE Standard Project Management Dashboard
- CORE Standard Billing Dashboard
- CORE Standard Financial Dashboard
- CORE Standard CRM Dashboard
- CORE Standard Timekeeper Dashboard
Just like any other dashboards in CORE, these standard dashboards are customizable. If there is no dashboard marked as the Default one, then the logged-in user will view the standard dashboard based on their role and subscription. You can also create multiple dashboards and make them role-based by adding different widgets. There are different methods and metric to track key information in CORE, depending upon your role:
-
Time and Expense User (timekeeper)
-
Project Manager
-
Billing User (accountant or biller)
-
Principal/Partner (owner of the company)

This widget is especially useful to the principals, partners and accountants in the company.
-
Billing
This bar chart represents total billed amount (excluding discounts and draft invoices) on a monthly basis for the last 12 months. It shows all the billing done by the company without considering the retainer amount used, broken into defined periods within the specified date range. You can apply date and other filters to it.
This widget is especially useful to the principals, partners and accountants in the company. It is a good practice to compare billings with A/R balances.
-
Aging

This widget is especially useful to the principals, partners, accountants and billing users in the company. These balances should be compared and evaluated against your monthly billings. A good rule of thumb is 8-18% of billings, but anything more should prompt increased collection efforts and evaluation of your investment in individual clients.
-
Income

It shows a comparison of the billable and non-billable hours based on the time entry date within the specified date range and billable status. You can include or exclude the overhead and marketing contracts from the calculations. You can apply date and other filters to it. By clicking one of the legend boxes (Billable or Non-Billable), you can turn that off and see only one type of hours.
Note: This widget does not include hours recorded against vendors in vendor bills.
This widget is especially useful to the billing users, project managers, and timekeepers in the company.

Unbilled Time
This bar chart represents the value of total hours logged, but not yet billed for the last 12 months. This widget is especially useful to the billing users and project managers in the company. Unbilled time hinders cash flow. Excessive work-in-progress should prompt an analysis to understand the risk of unbilled work and reasons why it has not been billed.
-

It displays the assigned hours and used hours (actual hours worked) rolled up at the employee level where the scheduled end date is within the specified date range. Time entries can be approved or unapproved, but the time entry date has to fall between the allocation start and end dates for them to be included here in the Used value. So the allocations without any start and end dates do not show up in this widget.
This widget is especially useful to the project managers and timekeepers in the company.
Note: The widget computes the assigned and used portion of allocations that are based on individual employee-activity combination as well as their groups. It excludes resources of type 'vendor' because tasks cannot be allocated to them.
-

This list widget shows the allocated and used hours of the logged-in user or employees you are managing by project within the specified date range. Time Performance
The Time Performance widget is an important self-evaluating tool for timekeepers. It ensures that you are meeting the expectations of total logged hours and billable to non-billable hour ratio. The donut graph provides a snapshot of the current week’s expected/standard hours as compared to what was logged as billable, non-billable, overhead and PTO hours. These are represented as hour values and percentage of standard hours. The percentages for Paid Time Off, Overhead Hours, Non-Billable Hours, and Billable Hours can be in comparison to the total actual hours logged, standard working hours, or standard working hours (minus deductions), depending on the Utilization Based On field in Settings > Company > Work Time. For details, check the field description in Company. You can apply date and other filters to remove inactive terminated employees from the widget.
Total Hours = Billable Hours + Non-Billable Hours + Overhead Hours + PTO Hours
PTO = Vacation + Sick + Holiday + Comp Hours
Overhead Hours = Hours logged against marketing and overhead projects
This widget is especially useful to the project manager, and time and expense user in the company.
-
Reimbursables
This list widget shows the paid and unpaid amounts of reimbursable expenses for the logged-in user within the specified date range (last 30 days). It lets you know if there are any reimbursable expenses waiting to be paid. You can apply date and other filters to it.
Typically, the reimbursable expenses (system vendor bills) are clubbed together for a month and paid in full (bill payments). The Paid column shows the full Cost Amount of the expense if you do not exclude any of the expenses from the clubbed bill when making the payment for it. However, if you exclude some expenses, then the Pay Amount of the bill is distributed among the component expenses in the Paid column while the due amount of the bill is distributed among them in the Unpaid column.
Unpaid = Expense Entry Cost Amount - Paid Amount
This widget is especially useful to the project managers and timekeepers in the company.

For example, CORE starts with the least priority stage and figures out what percentage of opportunities moved to the next priority stage, and so on.
A sales funnel report or widget is important for sales managers because it can help them forecast sales based on current lead volume and identify where deals are getting stuck so that they can improve their processes and better coach their teams. You can apply date and other filters to it.

Sales Velocity by Owner
This bar chart widget shows the rate of progression by sales reps (owner). As a sales manager, you need the ability to monitor the sales velocity of your team members so that you can focus your energy on those who might need help closing sales. After you look at the overall picture of the sales cycle and performance of your sales team, you can drill deeper into each sales rep’s performance using the Sales Velocity report. The bar chart shows how much time (in days) each sales rep takes on an average for each stage of an opportunity to move a deal from one stage to the next. Each segment of the stacked chart is an average number of days spent in a specific stage. You can apply date and other filters to it.

Sales Goal Performance
This dual bar chart widget gives you the ability to compare how well your team closes deals against a sales goal. It shows the revenue (actual) from closed deals compared to the sales goals. You can use this information to track the progress of sales by the logged-in user (you) for multiple periods (for instance, if the period is a month, you can see the comparisons per month for you as a sales rep). You can also track the progress of set sales goals for your team or the entire company for a single period (for instance, the period is a month and you can see each sales rep's goal and actuals for that month). You can apply date and other filters to it.
Note: A maximum of four sales goals are displayed at a time on this widget.
