When a budget row includes both a Resource and a Resource Group, CORE uses that combination to determine the cost rate and bill rate for the row. If you change either the Resource or the Resource Group on an existing budget row, CORE will recalculate the rates based on the new combination.
This can happen even when you are only updating hours. If the Resource Group field is not yet set on the row, saving any change to that row (including an hours update) will trigger the Resource Group requirement, which may prompt a rate recalculation once a Resource Group is selected.
To avoid unintended rate changes:
- Review the cost rate and bill rate on the budget row before saving any edits.
- If a Resource Group is not yet assigned, confirm the correct one before making changes to the row.
- After saving, verify that the cost and bill rates still reflect the intended values.
Note: Resource Group is a required field on budget rows. If your existing budgets do not have a Resource Group assigned, you will need to assign one before you can save changes to those rows. When you assign a Resource, CORE will automatically populate the Default Resource Group from the resource record. You can accept the default or select a different Resource Group as needed.
