Overview
The Project Metrics datasets are the primary data sources used to build dashboards and charts that analyze project performance, profitability, and activity over time in CORE Insights. Two Project Metrics datasets are available, each designed for a specific reporting purpose.
Project Metrics - Cumulative
This dataset contains monthly snapshots of project-to-date (PTD) values. Use it to review current project totals, monitor overall project performance, or create burn-down charts. To view the most current project values, filter the dataset by Is Latest = Yes.
Project Metrics - Monthly
This dataset contains monthly snapshots of project activity for each reporting period. Use it to analyze trends over time, calculate year-to-date profitability, or report on metrics such as billed amounts by month.
Both datasets use the Month Start field to identify the reporting period. Snapshot data is captured as of the last day of each month. The datasets include information at both the root project and phase levels. When building reports, you can use the Project Level field to filter data by project hierarchy and the Project Type field to focus on either Standard or Main projects.
You can access these datasets from the Data panel in the CORE Insights Dashboard Builder when creating or editing charts.
Dataset Structure
Each dataset stores one record for every project level and reporting month throughout the life of a project. This structure allows you to analyze historical project performance and compare project metrics across reporting periods.
Note: Historical monthly snapshots are currently available beginning January 2024.
At the root project level, most values are displayed as rolled-up totals from all child phases, matching the behavior of the Projects List in CORE. Refer to the Project-Level Rollup column in the field definitions for details about which metrics are aggregated.
