Mismatch error message in Payroll T&E Reviewer

When reviewing payroll or syncing payroll data, you might see a message indicating that the billable amount per person is off or a banner prompting you to fix it.

This message appears in the Payroll T&E Reviewer when CORE detects a difference between the pay rates used in time entries and the employee’s payroll compensation rate. This issue occurs when there is a mismatch between:

  • Time entry pay rates
  • Payroll compensation (job) rates

Common situations that trigger this message include:

  • An administrator updates an employee’s compensation rate after time entries have already been created.
  • A new payroll job or pay rate is assigned to the employee.
  • Existing time entries still contain the previous pay rate instead of the updated payroll rate.

To ensure payroll calculations remain accurate, CORE identifies this discrepancy and displays the mismatch message.

To resolve the mismatch, click Fix the mismatch. When selected, CORE updates the affected time entry pay rates so they match the employee’s current payroll compensation rate. This ensures payroll calculations use the correct rate before syncing payroll data to Gusto. Fixing the mismatch does not change the employee’s compensation settings, previously processed payroll runs, or historical payroll records. It also does not affect billable utilization metrics. If the mismatch message continues to appear, it can indicate a data inconsistency in the employee’s payroll configuration or existing time entries.
