Invoice batches vs. manual invoices

There are several instances when invoice batches are a better choice than manual invoices:

  • If you are looking to save time, invoice batches are quicker to create. Manual invoicing is more time consuming as there is more to check and account for while creating invoices manually.
  • If you want to create multiple invoices at once, invoice batches is the only choice. Manual invoices are limited to creating only one invoice at a time, while invoice batches allow you to create multiple invoices.
  • If you have projects with multiple phases to invoice, invoice batches are a better choice.  Manual invoices can only be made against a single-level project or a single phase of a project.
  • If you apply certain project rules, such as 'Prevent Time/Expense Entry', these are not applied to manual invoices and you should choose invoice batch instead.

There are several instances when manual invoices are a better choice than batch invoices:

  • If you are making a quick invoice on the spot, such as from an estimate or budget, manual invoices are easier and a better choice.
  • If you are entering historical invoices from a previous accounting software, manual invoices are a better choice.
  • If you are looking to create an invoice with no time or expenses attached to it, manual invoices work much better.
  • If you need to create a simple invoice and apply a payment for it at the same time, manual invoices are a better choice.
