Currency

Overview

Note: Help content (except videos) has been updated to reflect the UI/UX changes in CORE.

In a globalized world, your business can take place in multiple locations, say United States, Canada, Mexico and China. With different countries and foreign currencies, billing can get confusing. If you do business with international clients, you can enter foreign currency transactions in CORE the same way as you enter them in your local currency. CORE offers multi-currency support to bill your foreign clients in their currency values, making invoicing and payments easier.

The Currency screen displays a list of all currencies, country names and exchange rates or multipliers along with other relevant information to be used for currency conversion. Using these currency exchange rates, CORE converts your home currency amounts on the invoices to the local currency of your clients. It applies the exchange rate as of the date when an invoice is generated and saves that rate, ensuring the same conversion rate is used when recording payments. Click to watch this video on managing multiple currencies in CORE.

You can also enter expenses in foreign currencies and have CORE display the expense amount in both the local and foreign currency. You can specify a default home currency in the Company screen and then override it in the Employees screen or while entering expenses in the Expense Entries screen. Values on the CORE reports always appear in your home currency. The company records are also maintained in your home currency.

Field Descriptions

Field Name Field Description
Currency >
Assigned Multiplier

This currency multiplier or exchange rate is what one unit of your local currency is worth in the foreign currency. CORE allows you to enter multiplier up to 8 decimal places.

Example: If U.S. $1 (your local currency) is worth Australian $1.298 (foreign currency), then you can enter 1.298 in this field.

Culture Code

Language settings of a country, say for the United States, it is en-US, meaning US English. This setting also determines the decimal character and thousand separator for the currency.

Example: An amount of ten thousand dollars would be represented as $ 10,000 or decimal values as $10.25.
