Project Performance shows incorrect contract amount

User has a phased project with a contract amount set for the parent project and the same distributed among the phases. However, on the Projects > Performance tab for the parent, the contract amount displayed is double the amount.

This happens if the parent project is of type Standard and you have chosen to view the cumulative data for the project (include data of phases) by checking the Is Cumulative Data option at the top. For parent projects of type Standard, the total Contract Amount seen in the Earned Value widget of the Projects > Performance screen is the sum of contract amounts of the parent as well as its phases (when you choose to view the cumulative data). Otherwise, it shows the contract amount set for the parent (when you un-check the Is Cumulative Data option). So if you have set a contract amount for the parent project and distributed the same among the phases, the total contract amount comes out to be double. On the other hand, if you change the type of the parent to Main, the Contract Amount only displays the sum of contract amounts of the phases and is not affected by the amount set for the parent.

If you want to make the total contract amount as the sum of contract amounts of the phases only, you should either change the type of the parent project to Main or you can keep it as Standard and then change the contract amount for the parent project to zero. CORE takes the total contract amount for the project as the sum of the phases only in either case and the same is reflected in the Earned Value widget. Check CORE Help Center for details.
